DALLAS, Texas — Supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and members of the local diaspora gathered at JFK Plaza in Dallas to mark World Day Against the Death Penalty with a public photo exhibition and rally. The demonstration formed part of a coordinated international movement calling for an immediate end to executions in Iran and the protection of political dissidents on death row.
The primary objective of the Dallas gathering was to draw urgent public attention to the escalating rate of executions carried out by the Iranian regime, highlight the plight of political prisoners, and advocate for a democratic, secular republic in Iran.
"An Urgent Call to Save Lives"
Participants displayed a photo exhibition featuring portraits and names of political dissidents facing imminent execution, individuals executed for their political beliefs, and victims killed during peaceful popular protests in Iran.
Standing beside the exhibition, event participant Mona pointed to a display board showcasing the names and faces of political prisoners. She emphasized that her presence at the rally represented an "urgent call to save political prisoners on death row."
Another attendee, Reza, addressed the necessity of international intervention, stating that foreign governments and global bodies must actively "pressure Iran to stop executions in Iran."
Demonstrators underscored that domestic repression—including forced confessions and capital punishment following unfair trials—is deployed by the clerical regime to instill fear and prevent widespread public uprisings.
Demands for a Secular, Democratic Republic
Organizers and attendees affiliated with the NCRI reiterated their rejection of both the current religious dictatorship and any return to a monarchical system. Demonstrators echoed popular slogans that defined the event, including "Stop executions in Iran" and "Change, change, change—regime change in Iran by the people of Iran!"
The rally concluded with a collective call on the U.S. government and the broader international community to prioritize human rights, condition diplomatic engagement on the immediate cessation of executions, and support the Iranian people's aspiration for a secular, democratic, and non-nuclear republic.
