Iranian- American Gathered in Downtown Dallas Commemorating the 40th Day of the Passing of Sattar Beheshti

Dec 16, 2012- IACNT

To commemorate the fortieth day of the passing of Sattar Beheshti, an Iranian blogger who was tortured to death in Iran on October 3rd, 2012, the Iranian-American Community of North Texas held a ceremony in Downtown Dallas.  In addition to Sattar’s ceremony, people protested the continued violation of human rights in Iran and demanded that all political prisoners be freed.

In this gathering, the IACNT statements were read both in English and Farsi.  An article about Sattar and his courageous family was read by one of the members. Dr. Hossein Jahnsouz, a member of NCRI, National Council of Resistance of Iran, talked about Sattar’s death and the opposition’s struggle which has made it to this point in history against the ruling Mullahs in Iran.

On behalf of all the protesters, Dr Jahansouz sent a message to Sattar’s mother stating that “you have lost one sattar, but thousands of Sattars have joined you and thousands of Sattars admire you and are ready to serve you just as your son.”

The ceremony ended with the audience paying respect to Sattar by placing flowers next to his picture. Dates, Halva (a traditional Persian sweet) and hot tea were also served.
